Zig Zag to my hearts content!

I absolutely love printed fabrics. I feel like they add such depth to a room.  But really, they just make me smile :)  When I buy fabric for a project I usually buy a little more than I need.  1 - because I never know how much I need so I just add a little more on just in case :)  2 - because I usually do another project with the same fabric...it makes me feel like I did the project for free!  This has made for a few nice projects lately since we are on a tight budget.

So my friend Lauren gave me this chair last summer.

I blogged about redoing it, but never had a place to put it.  We decided to get rid of our love seat in our living room to make room for baby Smith.  So this chair now has a place!  I got a little inspiration from the fabric I used for Smith's crib skirt and our new couch pillows.  Both of which are fabrics that were used for other projects...so in my book they were free ;)

I liked the green in the pillows and the printed zig zag.  So I went to town with a little spray paint and some smoke glaze.

And this is what we came out with!

Spray paint colors are usually a bit bright and a little too shiny for me.  So I rubbed the smoke glaze all over the chair to give it a vintage/less shiny look.  I also sanded down the edges of the chair so that the smoke glaze would show up better.  I have to say...the first time I ever sanded down furniture to give it that vintage look I totally goofed.  It definitely takes practice.  I feel like each time I do a piece I get better and better.

With some projects, I am SOO excited about getting them done (to have that instant gratification) that I don't spend the time and effort to do a job well done.  I am trying to teach myself to slow down and that I will enjoy the finished product so much more if I am patient and do it well!  This time, I definitely took my time :)

I really like this chair!  I think the lines make it the perfect look for our living room!!

Adoption Hearing

Let me just start off saying that I should be cleaning my house right now.  I just can't seem to get inspired to clean. Sad story, but oh well! I am busy getting ready for a baby shower for my sister!  She is having my first nephew on April 7th! I can't wait!!

Anyway, moving along.  This past Friday was our adoption hearing to make Smith's adoption finalized.  Praise the Lord everything is done and went smoothly!  It was a 5 minute ceremony where they asked us a few questions.  The judge even gave us the pen he signed our papers with!

I cannot even express how special it is to have this precious baby boy in our lives.  We love him so much and love watching him grow every day.  I honestly cannot believe he is ours.  God, you are so good and to you be all the glory!!!

Us answering questions...I wanted to yell out "HECK YES" to all of them.  But I politely answered "Yes" instead :)  Doesn't MR.P look handsome??

I guess something was funny!

Us with our attorney and the Judge.  What a blessing that everything is done :)  Smith was supposed to be taking a nap, but we couldn't let him sleep through such a special moment.  That's why his fingers are in his mouth.

So this is the family that was able to come.  If our entire family had come it would have been a little overwhelming.  This isn't even half ;)  We were so blessed to have family come and celebrate with us!

Can you tell I am excited that everything is done??  Sad Smith's face isn't in this pic, but he was tired.  Which is why he has his wubbanub in his mouth.  Which is by the way, the best invention ever.  He loves it!

So Smith is officially Smith Jackson Peele.  We love you so much little man!!!

Diaper Bag Review

Happy Wednesday!  Ok, so we are already on diaper bag #2.  Sad isn't it!  I am so bummed.  We started out with the Skip Hop Deluxe Diaper Bag.

It was my favorite!  It was neutral for Smith and a little girly for me.  Sadly the 2nd week we had it one of the pockets ripped on the inside.  I lived with it for about 5 weeks, but it drove me nuts!  I took it back and decided to try another one.  I took Matt with me so he could help me pick out a good one we both would enjoy carrying.

That brings me to this one!!  I actually really like it.  The Columbia Vertical Glide Diaper Bag .

This is only day 1 but I think I'm going to enjoy it a lot. I love the color and the pocket usage.  The inside is lined with a light blue which makes it not so army man looking ;)  I'll let you know if this one lets me down as well!

And just for kicks.  My mom and I got this Timi & Leslie diaper bag for my sister.

She is have a baby boy! Smith won't have to be the only boy out of 10 grandchildren!

Friday afternoon is a special day for us and Smith! I will make sure to take lots of pictures :)

Family Photo :)

One of many family photos to come!  Smith is the easiest baby. He just goes along with us everywhere we go :)  I just love dressing him up!  And he smiles and coos all while letting me dress him up!

Finally got some approval!

Since Smith arrived I started cooking a little more often.  I try to find as many recipes with as little ingredients as I possibly can.  So lately Matt has been ok with them.  Just not his favorite. I tell him to be honest or else he'll have to eat the meal again since I won't know his true feelings :)  So he tells me exactly what he thinks.  Love you babe!

Anyway, last night I made  the Pioneer Woman's Grilled Chicken & Pineapple Quesadillas.  Let me just say YUM!!  And MR.P loved them too!!  Score for me :)

This is definitely going on a 2 week rotation :)  Anyone have any recipes that their husband just loves???

This week on the project list was to make a place for the Mr. to put his hats. He requested this so I made it my mission to organize them for him.

I took some twine and hung it on a nail.  It's not cute, because this is guy stuff...you know?
Then I used some clothes pins to attach the hats to the twine. I think it turned out well :)

Matt is happy with it.  Wish my iphone would zoom out a bit so you could see how many hats this fits.  Oh well. Maybe one day :)

This week is pretty busy, but we like busy at the Peele house!  Happy Monday!

New Pillows

Howdy!  Things are great here at the Peele household!  We have been busy with life, baby, and some projects here and there. I wanted to get some projects here on the blog to show ya.  I have to admit, I didn't make them myself. I just had the vision and my friend Katie put them together!

Anyway, I bought this fabric a few months ago to make some curtains for my kitchen.  You see, our kitchen window looks out over our BEAUTIFUL hydrangias...but then sadly you see the neighbors house too.  At night it was a little awkward, so I decided it needed to be covered ;)

I had been planning on making those forever, but never got around to it until recently.  I'll post pics soon :)  I LOVED how it brought it all the colors I love and made everything in my kitchen and living room area POP!!  Thankfully, I had a bunch of fabric left over to make some pillows.  I am just not confident enough in my sewing skills yet to make them myself. So I pulled in reinforcements :)

Yesterday I headed to Katie's house to visit her and Turner.  She and Smith are great friends :)

Look how much fun they are having!  P.S. Turner is one of the happiest little baby girls I've ever met!

Here's Katie showing her mad sewing skills.  She even taught me how to sew on a zipper! So these pillows look professional.

And here they are all done!  I love how they turned out.  They are perfect.

And here they are in our living room.  I thought I'd show you a real life picture of what our house looks like right now.  Stuff on the kitchen table, the pack n play out (although, I did put it away today), the computer out, the hubs legs...you know.  Our house is way more lived in these days.  I am a stay at home mom now, so it gets a little messy :)

And lastly, a picture of the growing little man!!

Ok, maybe two pics :)

He is so big now! Smith is 7 weeks and 3 days.  I think he's about 10 pounds now.  We go to the dr. next week :) He's been sleeping through the night for the last 3 weeks.  And I am SOO grateful!  We are getting plenty of sleep here at our house!  Hope everyone is doing well!
